How to study grammar
Studying grammar is quite unlike studying a course in history, for example. In a history class, you could conceivably sleep through the lectures about the ‘Middle Ages’ and be quite alert when discussing the ‘French Revolution’. Consequently, you will still manage to understand the historical circumstances and you will be able to answer some of the questions in your history exam.

In contrast, the progression of learning of grammar is systematical and logical. That is, you MUST understand the basic concepts (e.g. finite/ non-finite verbs, pre & post-modifiers, functions, clauses, etc) in order to understand the later concepts. There is a clear cyclical learning process to the understanding and applying of grammar skills. As such, I urge you to view all the video tutorials and to apply your understanding by completing the related exercises. |
