Although born in India, I was raised and schooled in the UK, but have lived in Sweden (off & on) since 1984. In Sweden, I gained a second degree majoring in English studies, together with Political Science & Economics, and then commenced doctoral studies in English Linguistics at Linnaeus University.
I have taught English at various levels, from beginner to advanced in universities and institutions in Spain, Czechoslovakia, England and in Sweden. Between 2000-2012, I facilitated undergraduate courses in: Grammar, Linguistics, Children's Language Acquisition, Academic Writing, Language History, Sociolinguistics, & ICT for Language Teachers. In September 2009, I started a position as ICT coach at the Faculty of Humanities at Umeå University. My mandate is to guide and consult with teaching, research and administarative staff helping them to use and to embrace modern, digital technology for their professional day to day needs. When not working, I ski (telemark, snowboard and alpine), kayak, Nordic skate & hike in/on the seas, lakes, rivers and in the mountains on northern Sweden. A few times a year, I exile myself in the Swedish mountains as a cabin host 'stugvärd' for STF (a Swedish Outdoor/Mountain association).
